Sunday Mornings: 8:15 -- Praise Service 9:30 -- Sunday School 10:45 -- Traditional Worship
We offer two distinct worship experiences here at FCC...
Our Sunday morning Praise Service (8:15am) is held in the Sanctuary and is led by a praise band that consists of anything from a keyboard and lead singer to several vocalists joined by guitars, bass and drums. We sing mostly contemporary Christian music, with a few upbeat hymns mixed in. The style of this worship is informal, and most people come dressed very casually (jeans and shorts are the norm). This is a growing service that currently has anywhere from 40-80 in attendance.
Our Traditional Sunday Worship (10:45am) is typically led in music by the Chancel Choir and is accompanied by piano and organ. The Choir rehearses Wednesdays, 7-8pm, and is always open to newcomers. We almost exclusively sing hymns in this service, with an occasional contemporary praise song mixed in. Our Traditional Worship is more formal in nature than the Praise Service, but is still relatively relaxed as far as liturgy is concerned. This service is our largest, averaging about 170 in attendance.
Each of our worship services is a modern reflection of New Testament tradition. We observe the Lord's Supper weekly in each of our services, following the custom of the early church; we practice believer's baptism by immersion (but accept all forms of baptism as valid - no one ever needs to be re-baptized), taking Christ's own baptism as our model; and we center our worship on the Bible, encouraging each individual to study scripture and be led by the Spirit to God's truth. We do not tell people what to believe, but try to walk with them on their own journeys toward faith and belief, learning from one another as we go. The only question we ask of those who wish to officially place their membership with our church family is: "Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and do you accept Him as your Lord and Savior?" |
